Job Description

Udacity is seeking an individual to join the Market Data team with focus on deep knowledge about and provision of market data services. The Market Data group’s responsibilities cover all aspects of the delivery of Market Data in addition to proactive interaction with end-users to achieve the best quality of service and to provide deep expert support and data mastery on all data products.

  • Build strong relationship with data vendors and enforce data SLA and data quality agreements with vendors.
  • Act as a Data Curator, managing data through its lifecycle and ensuring its readiness for use.
  • Provide information, advice, solutions and value-added consultation on market data as a subject matter expert to various PMs, business units, including colleagues in Market Data Services, IT, and sourcing functions.
  • Gather, document, critically analyze and communicate market data business requirements and issues. Understand user requirements and requests for new services etc.
  • Gather information about Market Data services and enrich internal repository for MD Catalog with relevant meta-data and other relevant information.
  • Understand data services and their relationship, relevance and most optimal usage, including, from service quality point of view, ability to substitute a data set with an alternative.

Responsibilties

  • DBA experience working on designing and maintaining enterprise environments
  • Experience with a wide range of SQL Databases: MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, including MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB, etc.
  • Server database infrastructure design and high availability best practices
  • Defining current and future standards for large data-sets with high uptime requirements
  • Create and maintain roadmap for database infrastructure
  • Work closely with development teams to ensure that database architecture meets the business requirements
  • Designing and Executing database platform Migrations
  • Designing processes and procedures for the management and maintenance of Database systems

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering (preferably in Computer Engineering, Computer Science),
  • 8+ Years experience,
  • Advanced English (reading, writing, speaking),
  • Good at Communication, detail oriented, interpersonal, problem-solving, and analytical skills

What do I need to qualify for this job?

  • BSc., MSc. or PhD. in computer science or a related areas
  • Proven 2+ years of experience in software development
  • Strong programming skills in C++
  • Strong knowledge in object oriented programming, analysis, and design
  • Development experience in Linux environment
  • Knowledge and experience in SCRUM, Agile processes
  • Expertise in containerization and networking is a strong plus
  • Knowledge in RESTful web services, Micro Service Architecture is a plus
  • Experience with IAAS and PAAS solutions (OpenStack, Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, etc) is a plus
  • Experience in Scripting Languages; Python, Ruby, Bash, Java Script is a plus
  • Software development and engineering expertise industrial automation systems will be an asset
  • Very good command of English (German is a plus)
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
