Job Purpose
What does a great Java Implementation Consultant do?
As a Java Implementation Consultant, you will work with the client facing technology team to ensure timely delivery of solutions to Fiserv’s clients.
You will support client”s full release lifecycle under the mentorship of the Technical Manager
You will be responsible for Code Analysis, Code merge and maintaining the release branch
Your support duties include Change Management reviews, maintaining release content and regressions in JIRA
You will own deployment in to the sandbox(s)
Partner with client solution technical architect”s during client deployment
Analyze and fix existing Java code

Basic Qualifications for Consideration:
1+ year: Java development
1+ year: Application Deployment with Application servers (WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss)
1+ year: Java IDE’s (Eclipse/IntelliJ)
1+ year: Build tools (Ant, Maven)

Job Description

The IT Solution Architect is responsible for articulating the architectural vision, conceptualizing and experimenting with alternative architectural approaches, developing and validating the architecture and high level solution design against business requirements, and guiding and mentoring development teams on methodologies, processes and best practices.  The Solution Architect helps application teams follow envisioned business and technology direction through the fact that the architectural vision transcends the scope and lifespan of any individual project or effort.  The Architect helps the application development team follow the documented Solution Design and apply it to the more detailed application design. Through the life cycle of the project the architect ensures that the detailed application design applies the high level solution design vision and provides consultation services if additional design complications or issues arise during the lifecycle of the project. In some instances the IT architect will be called on to help troubleshoot issues and may create prototypes or proofs of concepts. In all circumstances the IT architect will need to work closely with development teams, other architects and with representatives from the business.

Responsibilities
Work with Principal Architects to influence business strategy by explaining the capabilities of the architecture to management and the business
Maintain a broad business understanding including customer and market trends.
Contribute to future vision and strategy by conducting research and proof of concepts
Maintain a broad knowledge of new technical tools and trends, and apply that knowledge to improving business processes.
Articulate and document a solution architecture vision.
Map business capabilities and services to IT solutions, and plan IT solutions for future business opportunities.
Assist in aligning business strategy to IT strategy, in ways that adhere to the IT maxims.
Create solution architectures that are leverage-able for future re-use and actively seek opportunities to leverage existing IT solutions for new business offerings and services.
Align IT solutions with business functions to improve flexibility, facilitate large scale reuse, and improve comprehensibility and visibility of IT’s value to the business.
Partner with business, Research and other FCE and IT teams, where appropriate, in designing IT solutions that match the needs of the business.
Continuously improve processes, technologies, applications to provide best value to business.
Establish standards in best practice design patterns and pitfalls to ensure that IT solutions perform to expectations.
Assist development teams in developing and enhancing detailed application designs and interfaces.
Assess and formulate go forward architecture and technology direction for IT solutions
Aggressively identify enterprise IT application solution/technology initiatives that are of value. Collaborate with other architects and teams in execution of the initiatives.
Facilitate cross team and cross component collaboration.
Review and approve project deliverables to ensure that they are architecturally sound and achieve as great a degree of fit with the desired architectures as possible.
Facilitate leverage and reuse of components, solutions and technologies across teams and projects.
Work with Principal Architects to provide input and assistance from a solution design perspective to the RFP response team

Experience in IT, specifically in software development
extensive experience as Lead Developer,
experience in IT Architecture and application design
Technology and Architectural Competency:
Performance modeling, profiling, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
Experience with industry standard architecture and design methodologies and processes
UML Modeling and use of Sybase PowerDesigner
Tradeoff analysis
Prototype/experiment/simulate
Prepare architectural documents and presentations
Technology trend analysis/roadmaps
Strategic thinking, be able to take an enterprise or system viewpoint
Strong Java and web application experience
Windows and .NET experience
Experience in one or more service delivery/operational domains is desired:

Varied Experience in following areas is required:
Rich and varied IT solution design and development experience
Designing large scale software systems and leading development efforts

Application and Integration design methodologies, standards and best practices (SOA, OOAD, AOP)
